About Transient.Archive

A living archive of drums, sound, and video.

Hi, I’m Josh. I started Transient.Archive as a passion project and creative outlet. Through it, I build the structure I need to pursue my goals as a drummer exploring the art of recording, mixing, and production.

Me.

Documenting the Project

I’m learning through practice, experimentation, and critical listening – documenting what works and what doesn’t along the way. This blog is an opportunity to approach that process with greater intention, preserve my progress, and build a lasting record of the pursuit of excellent sound.

Filling the Archive

Expect lots of drums here.

You will find drums-only covers of hard rock tracks I love. You’ll also find comparisons of different approaches to mixing tracks I record, and deep dives about influential hard rock albums and the drummers who performed on the albums.

Most of my posts will include video and audio, particularly drum covers and mixing comparisons. I’ll share research notes on the original recordings I’m studying, document the recording and mixing process, and discuss the drums and cymbals I’m playing.
